Abstract
:
The effect of chemotherapy on Enterobacteriaceae among patients with cancer Kholoud Hassan ALZahrani English Abstract This study showed the effects of cancer patient’s chemotherapy treatments on the formation of intestinal microflora and its sensitivities to antibiotics, especially Enterobacteriaceae. All types of bacteria found in cancer patients stool samples were defined before and after chemotherapy with Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and Antimicrobial susceptibility testing (SIR) (Sensitive - Intermediate – Resistant) recording. E. coli was chosen as an indicator on some biochemical reactions and bacterial cell. Total of eleven patients, two showed the presence of E. coli before and after chemotherapy treatments. To compare the effect of chemotherapy treatments on E. coli we examined some biochemical activity include production of acids, gas and the leakage of potassium, phosphorus, sodium and chloride in medium. Cell morphology was detected by SEM, genome was sequence by r16S. The results showed damages in the cells ship after the treatment, production of gas and acid, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and chloride leaked were various before and after the treatment. This study showed that chemotherapy has a clear role in influencing intestinal bacteria. Isolated E. coli were identified by extracted DNA before and after treatment and monitored the changes that occurred.
