Abstract
:
The aim of the study is to address and shed the light on the actual extracting and transferring the pilots' knowledge and raising the efficiency of training at Prince Sultan Aviation Academy in Jeddah. Moreover. Building a knowledge base, measure its effectiveness on training. The problem of the study was: How can the knowledge bases be used to support the extraction and transfer of the pilots' tacit knowledge, and to improve the training of pilots at Prince Sultan Aviation Academy in Jeddah?. The importance of the study in the scarcity of the studies - according to the researcher's knowledge - which seeks to extract and transfer the civilian pilots’ tacit knowledge, and to increase the awareness of leaders at Prince Sultan Aviation Academy of the importance of extracting and transferring knowledge. The study used a case study methodology that is appropriate to the nature of this study. As well as using the System Development Methodology to build the knowledge base. The study used the questionnaire as a data collection tool for analysis. It concluded with important results such as: the extraction and transfer of pilots' knowledge have an impact on the efficiency of the training. Extraction of the tacit knowledge contributes in reducing errors during flight. Motivating the instructor pilots to transfer their knowledge to benefit the training. It also confirmed the effectiveness of the knowledge base in training. It recommended the immediate start of establishing the knowledge base. The output of the study was a prototype knowledge base for training.
