Abstract : During Hajj time the exchange rate of the Saudi Riyal against some other Islamic countries fluctuate. These fluctuations affect the purchasing power of the pilgrims as well as visitors and is reflected by decrease of the aggregate demand by the pilgrims. The aim of this study is to estimate the determinants of the daily fluctuation on S.R. exchange rate. During Hajj time, Saudi Riyal exchange rate fluctuate against the currencies of other Islamic countries. For this reason a survey was conducted to obtain the daily required information on S.R. exchange rate as well as the number of pilgrims during the 1431 Hajj season (1 Dhul Qadah - 5 Dhul Hijjah 1431). Therefore , data to be used in the regression analysis is pooled and three countries were chosen to conduct the study. These countries are Iran , Egypt, and Indonesia . To do this purpose, an SPSS program was conducted to estimate the effect of pilgrims' spending on the daily fluctuations of the Riyal exchange rate . An OLS method and Partial Adaptation form were applied to estimate the coefficients. The coefficients are consistent with previous studies. The signs of the coefficients are as expected and significant, even though the number of pilgrims for Egypt , Indonesia are insignificant.
