This study discusses the role of Thaqif tribe before Islam to Umayyad Age. The study aims at revealing the civilized role of Thaqif. The researcher adopted the historical,descriptive and analytical approaches; which bases on investigating past events and incidents through collected documents and narratives from original resources . The researcher has also followed the compared and analytical techniques to obtain results . The findings of the study has unveiled that Thaqif has played a great role in building up the Islamicculture. Thaqif tribe developed good experience to serve religion , when they started to defend Islam in the time of Riddah War. They also participated inIslamic triumph. When Thaqif settled , in " Ammsar " , they planned , built and organized cities. In administration , they divided the region in two units such as; Kufa, Basra, Khurasan etc., The natural environment of Thaqif region has helped them in developing agriculture and industry which assisted in improving their economical style .They had been conquered by other tribes . They built high walls around their city to protect themselves from being evaded by others. They also played an effective role in improving agriculture in Iraq that was previously neglected. They supplied dry lands with water , mad workers available and encouraged farmers by loans- supporting . social, and economical development were witnessed in Thaqif Age . Islamc behavior and traditions were introduced by Thaqif tribe . In the area of culture, Thaqif tribe paid great attention to knowledge wherethey learned reading and writing in early stage. This tribe also became outstanding in Shriyah sciences, narrating Hadeyth, figh and exegesis. Theygave Arabic language and its arts great significance. Many people were trainedand studied among them specially the grammarians such as Seibaweih. The study also revealed Thaqif tribe contributed a lot in forming Hijaz civilization before and after Islam. The role of Thaqif was also evident in other fields such as politics, administration, economics social and cultural domain. Thaqif had great impact on establishing principles of Islam to create Islamic society. |
