This study is a descriptive study with the purpose of identifying the nature of differences between social characteristics of male and female delinquents juveniles and its effect on type of delinquency committed. I focused on familial, educational, economic, professional, demographic and recreational characteristics. I relied on the comparative method as a major method for presenting aspects of similarity and difference of the phenomenon of juveniles delinquency, social descriptive survey method as an auxiliary method so that I can describe this research population through illustrating their characteristics. I applied this study on (80) Saudi delinquents juveniles at Social Probation House lodgers in Jeddah and (37) delinquents juveniles lodgers of Girls’ Care Institution in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. I used inclusive calculation due to low number and collected data through the use of a questionnaire. I concluded some important results as follows: The phenomenon volume of male delinquents juveniles is more than that volume of female delinquents juveniles but the phenomenon of resorting to delinquency was found greater in female delinquents juveniles than male delinquents juveniles, The most delinquency committed by male delinquents juveniles is sexual deviation while the compound delinquency committed by female delinquents juveniles is adultery and privacy, The most important cause that leads to committing delinquency by male delinquents juveniles is bad friends while that of female delinquents juveniles is weakness of family relationships, Male delinquents juveniles are characterized by strength of cohesion and family relationships and moderation in treatment such as: family upbringing, high academic level, low academic achievement and high economic level. Most of them are students and employees due to economical factors, moderation, popularity of neighborhood, spending their spare time through the use of mobile phone which is considered the most effective means of mass media while the street is considered the most favourite place of recreation. On the other hand, female delinquents juveniles are characterized by weakness of family cohesion, fluctuation of family relationships, cruelty, violence, toughness, carelessness, gentleness and mildness in treatment such as method of family upbringing, low academic level, high level of academic achievement, low economic level. Most of them are employees due to psychological factors, moderation, popularity of neighborhood, spending their spare time through the use of mobile phone which is considered the most effective means of mass media while the sea is considered the most favourite place of recreation. This study concluded presenting the following recommendations that may participate in treating or reducing the volume of this phenomenon through the remedy of social characteristics that lead to delinquency and activating the role of social service inside penalty institutions. |
