Abstract : This study treated the understanding of ALMAARRI for the poetry of the two TAIIEN poets , ABUTAMMAM & ALBUHTURI. The introduction depicts the concept of comprehension by Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato; the comprehension theory by ancient Arabs during the second, third, and fourth Islamic centuries up to modern times. The study refers to how ancient and modern scholars comprehended the poetry of ABUTAMMAM & ALBUHTURI, his enemies and issues of enmity, such as traditionalism and modernly , ambiguity and clarity, truthfulness and lies, experience, text and semantics, and the artistic image. The study continues to depict ALMAARRI'S knowledge and culture by referring to his biography, his books, and his comprehension of the poetry of ancient poets. However , the study concentrated on ALMAARRI'S comprehension of the poetry of ancient poets by referring to his book (Zikra Habib) and his comprehension of ALBUHTURI's poetry in his book (Abath Alwaled). Light was shed on the way ALMAARRI comprehended the poetry of TAIIEN. Most important were the reporting of the poetical verse, explanation of expressions, grammatical signals, glimpses to the cultures of ABUTAMMAM & ALBUHTURI and his poetical doctrine, and glimpses of ALMAARRI's diverse culture. The study explained ALMAARRI's method of comprehending the poetry of ABUTAMMAM & ALBUHTURI., and that he had no one single method , as his methods were varied, as if he is. the enlightened critic who considered all aspects. The study very clearly revealed ALMAARRI's ideology and culture which were apparent during his comprehension of the poetry of ABUTAMMAM & ALBUHTURI.
