Abstract
:
The present study focused on studying the some social factors affecting talent such as media, the methods or programs available in the community to care for talent, family factors, the most important needs of the talented, and the main obstacles facing him/her. The descriptive analytical method has been adopted The study used questionnaire as a main instrument to collect data. It included primary variables, in addition to six central points to achieve the objectives of the study and answer its questions. The questionnaire was applied to the (233) male and female talented students in middle school in Jeddah City. The findings show the integration of social factors affecting talent, which confirms the presence of social factors that contribute to the emergence and caring for and nurture of talent. Mass media have influence on the talent, in particular the Internet. There are differences in the impact of the available methods or programs in the community to care for talent. Most of the study items were from families of a middle or high social and economic level. Families often use methods to care for talented such as (encouraging the talented to execute his/her work by him/her self, providing him with information on how to invest his/her talent, speaking to him/her about his/her achievements, exaggerating in praising him/her and offering him/her presents). The most effective pattern for actions of whom care for a large percentage of talented is the value motive, specifically the religious values. It is shown that there is a strong connection inside most of the families of the talented in the study sample. There is a relative care for talent by teachers. It was also clear that the relations between most of the study sample and their teachers and colleagues at school seem to be positive. Schools are not often interested in specifying open days or boards for the talented and their parents. It was found that there are differences in the recognition the sample of the study has about the importance of what they need. It seems also that there is variation in the understanding of the sample of the study to the obstacles they face, whether family, school obstacles, or obstacles related to the Saudi mass media. The study concluded by providing a vision of what should every educational institution ensure to do in order to guarantee the provision of an appropriate care for talented people in the Arabian Saudi society, with the importance of facilitating the duties of the researchers through the concerned authorities. It is necessary also to conduct further studies about the social factors affecting the talent of the talented male and female students at the middle stage of education, as well as comparing between the two types of public and private education.
